WHAT IS HABIT STACKING, AND HOW WILL IT HELP ME?

When it comes to forming new habits, the time frame for success varies. Some people are successful in as little as 21 days whereas others will need 60 days or more.

It can be overwhelming to create new habits, especially if you keep trying and failing. Though we may blame it on lack of our own willpower or ability, that’s not a good enough reason to stop trying.

So how can we stick to new habits? Try habit stacking

The habit stacking formula is: After/Before [CURRENT HABIT], I will [NEW HABIT].

For example:

After I pour my cup of tea, I will meditate for one minute.

After I take off my shoes, I’ll immediately change into gym clothes.

After I sit down to dinner, I’ll say one thing I’m grateful for

After I get into bed at night, I’ll give my partner a kiss and hug.

The beauty about habit stacking is that it uses your current habits as a foundation for building new ones. This means you can start with something simple and easy, like brushing teeth or drinking water first thing in the morning (or whatever routine works best), then add other more challenging behaviors on top of those without feeling too overwhelmed by change!

Will you be trying this? Save this for later!
